A Virtual 1-week Running Camp Built by Runners, for Runners

Week 2: Track, Road, Marathon

July 20 - 26, 2020

Chaski will also have a special Camp week built entirely by women, for women (August 3 - 9). Click the links above for info!

Camp Chaski is an online, virtual, week-long running camp built for the current limitations of 2020 by runners, for runners of all levels.

Over the course of this week, you'll be able to interact with and learn from some of the most accomplished runners in the sport, partake in structured runs as well as pre- and post-run exercises and strength workouts.

In addition, you'll be able to learn from the pros (like Scott Fauble, Emily InfieldParker Stinson, Marielle Hall and Stephanie Bruce) during live interactive afternoon Master Classes

We'll cover topics like nutrition, training philosophy, mental toughness, the marathon, and wrap things up with our Chaski Campfire - where our staff will share some of their favorite funny, inspiring, and/or challenging stories from their journey in the sport.

At the end of the week you'll receive our official Chaski Certificate of Completion for the Road/Track/Marathon specialty.

While many companies would charge more for a single lecture, our entire week of camp (including 6 interactive master classes) is available for only $99.

Frequently asked questions

Sounds cool - but how does “virtual running camp” really work?

We’ve all had to get creative with how we engage as a community of athletes in 2020 and we hope this camp is a successful manifestation of that. We’ve built Camp Chaski with the goal of sharing the knowledge of our incredible staff with all of you in a way that’s as fun and interactive as possible. But --brass tacks-- here’s how it’ll work. The morning session will be held live at 8am EDT. We’ll open with a short intro of who ever is leading that session and then each day we’ll be led through a series of light warm-up drills and activation exercises. Following this, our morning workout leader will introduce the run/workout for the day (as outlined on the schedule above). We’ll go over the purpose of the workout, how it should feel, and how to adjust it specifically to your own circumstances (ability, background, environment, etc.) You’ll be able to use the chat feature to ask questions which we’ll answer before letting everyone go. Then, you go do your run! We’ll meet back afterward at a set time to take part in our post-workout session (outlined in the schedule above). Some days these will be harder strength workouts and some days they’ll be recovery based. Again, you’ll be able to ask questions before and after the workout via the chat feature and the workout leaders will do their best to answer everything before signing off.

How much running will we do? Is the exercise portion too hard/too easy for me?

Great question(s)! We designed Camp Chaski such that anyone could get something out of it. Whether you’re “ultra curious” or thinking about your first trail race or a seasoned vet training for your 10th 100-miler, we’ve designed a program that has something for everyone. Each run and workout (outlined above) has been specifically designed such that it can easily be adjusted by effort and time to account for variances in ability. By default we’ll have easy modifications for beginner, intermediate, and advanced runners, but can help you figure out exactly what makes sense for you. As a bare minimum - if you want to participate in the running portion, you should probably be able to run for 20 minutes without stopping. But even if you’re injured or below that level, we still think you’ll get a ton out of all the non-running portions of the program. Long story short - we’re confident that we can make it hard enough for very advanced runners and easy enough for real beginners!

How does the interactive portion work? Can I talk to/communicate with the presenters?

Yes! You’ll be able to communicate with the presenters via the chat function in the video conference. We’ll have our moderator who will determine whether the question should be addressed immediately or else saved for the end of the presentation when we’ll have a designated Q&A time. This goes for both the morning workouts and the evening masterclasses. If you think of something between classes, you can even post it in our Camp Chaski Facebook group and we’ll try to get back to you there or else address it the next time we meet! If you’d like to personally ask questions and interact with the presenters, you’ll have to sign up for the Camp Chaski Premium Package (as outlined above) and attend the post-master-class Q&A.

What if I can’t make some of the camp workouts or masterclasses?

No worries! We don’t expect everyone to attend everything live. That’s why we’re providing all of our slides, notes, and recordings of lectures and workouts to our participants. You can watch, read, and even still ask questions about the presentation in the Camp Chaski Facebook Group. Finally, we factored this into the price when we were putting Camp Chaski together. With 5 workouts and 6 masterclasses, that’s only $9 per session!

I’m outside of the USA or in a different time-zone - can I still attend?

Absolutely! We’ve already got athletes from all over the world. If some of the times are in the middle of the night for you (e.g. the 20:00pm EDT masterclasses are 01:00am GMT in London) and you don’t feel like staying up that late, you can always watch the recordings the following morning and still submit your questions to the Camp Chaski Facebook Group where we’ll try to answer them there and/or incorporate them into the next class’s Q&A. For runners not on US Eastern Time, we’ll have a replay of the morning workout at 8am PDT, so you’re welcome to attend either (the 8am session will still be moderated so you can still ask questions!).

I’m not an ultrarunner but love the idea, is there a camp for (marathon/cross country/etc)?

Yes! Stay tuned for more updates coming soon. We’re planning to have at least two more weeks of Camp Chaski for Summer 2020 - one will focus specifically on Women in Running and the other will focus on races from 5K to the Marathon.

Do you have any group discounts?

Yes! Email us at contact@Chaski.run if you have a family, club, or group of friends that are all interested in attending. Our group discounts are managed on a case by case basis.

I’ve never used Zoom before and struggle with technology - help!

Don’t worry! It’s super easy :) We’ll send out specific instructions for how to attend the workouts and masterclasses ahead of opening day. And we’ll always be available via email or in the Camp Chaski Facebook Group.

Is there swag?!

You better believe it! We have Chaski tri-blend, made-in-America T-Shirts and more coming soon! Stay tuned.
